Sarah Gallegos is bi-lingual in Spanish and English. Sarah was born and raised in Albuquerque. She and her husband have two beautiful children. Sarah graduated, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Denver in 2005, and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2008. During law school, Sarah was a recipient of the Association of Public Interest Law Summer Fellowship for her clerkship at the Texas Civil Rights Project, and the State Bar Young Lawyers Division Summer Fellowship for her externship with the New Mexico Public Defender Department. She was also a recipient of the Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship, Writing Competition Award, and served on the Board of Directors for the Mexican American Law Student Association. Sarah is passionate about education and mentorship, promoting diversity in the legal profession, and equitable access to justice. She has volunteered for Catholic Charities, KUNM 89.9, and served on the Board of Directors for the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association (NMHBA), as well as her daughter’s non-profit pre-school, Playschool of the Arts for Kids. Sarah currently volunteers on the ACLU-NM Legal Panel, “Crimmigration Panel,” advising the legal department, and acting as cooperating counsel when feasible. Prior to joining the law firm of Rasheed and Associates, P.C. Sarah spent many years with the Law Offices of the Public Defender where she handled a wide-range of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, ranging from traffic tickets, petty misdemeanors, DWI, domestic violence, drug charges, sex offenses, and murder cases, as well as sex offender post-conviction representation. During her time with the Public Defender, Sarah supervised, mentored, and trained new attorneys and law students.
Sarah has devoted her career to helping people. She has lectured at multiple seminars for the Law Offices of the Public Defender and the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association including
